Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Professional Realty is a proud supporter of Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer. This summer we are honored to be representing Jackson Weber, 8 years old, for this year’s Lemonade Days.
Jackson was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia on August 11th, 2020. He was feeling under the weather for weeks, but due to COVID-19 doctor’s weren’t able to see anyone with a fever. Jack’s mom, Lindsey, took her son to Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital, where they immediately admitted him into the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. His mom knew something was seriously wrong, but never did she think they would hear the “c” word.
Once Jackson was stabilized, they started what would just be the beginning of a 2 year treatment plan. Jackson was in the hospital initially for 21 days after his cancer diagnosis, but that was only the beginning of a very difficult road to remission. The Weber family has spent most of the past year in and out of the hospital not only battling his Leukemia, but also the coronavirus and a serious reaction to his intrathecal methotrexate, causing him to have stroke-like symptoms.
The good news is that Jackson is on a maintenance program now, which means no more weekly lumbar punctures, chemo in his port, and all those other nasty, not-fun things that no kid wants to go through. He is now on oral chemo and other medications for treatment, which are still making the little kiddo pretty sick. He will still need to go to the hospital for maintenance check ups and blood work, but he is able to start getting back to being a kid again!
His family members are:
Mother-Lindsey Weber
Father-Randy Weber
Sister-Emerson
Little Brother-Mason
Jack has the most amazing service dog at UH Rainbow Babies and Children's, Melena! She helps Jack with all port access and anything that might be a bit scary for him!
